The chart-climbing indie quintet Blossoms have officially declared the release of their much-anticipated fifth studio album, aptly titled ‘Gary’. Exploring new sonic territories, this album promises to be a turning point in their discography.

Get ready to circle September 20th in your indie music almanac, as Blossoms unveil their captivating new album, ‘Gary’. Not only will their fans be graced with fresh sounds and evocative lyrics, but they’re in for a visual treat as well, with the music video for the title track, ‘Gary’, spotlighting none other than the charismatic Rick Astley.

Directed by creative mastermind and lead singer Tom Ogden along with his brother Ewan Ogden, the video presents a seamless continuation from their previous work. It brings to life an intriguing narrative about a 8-foot fiberglass gorilla named Gary, stolen from a Scottish garden center, with Astley playing the pivotal role of the distressed owner. The clip, shot in the rustic landscapes of Stockport, the Peak District, and Derbyshire, exudes a filmic charm thanks to the 16mm reel it was captured on.

  • Single: ‘What Can I Say After I’m Sorry?’
  • Rich Collaborations with James Skelly, Josh-Lloyd Watson, and CMAT
  • Album Tracklist: Featuring songs ‘Big Star’, ‘I Like Your Look’, ‘Nightclub’, and more

Blossoms’ newest single, ‘What Can I Say After I’m Sorry?’, serves as a musical appetizer for what’s to come in ‘Gary’. The band’s harmonic evolution is notable, as they return to recording live as a fivesome, a technique not used in years, delivering a raw energy that resonates through each song.

Their enthusiasm for the project is palpable. Collaborating with celebrated figures like James Skelly of The Coral, and Jungle’s Josh-Lloyd Watson, added layers of ingenuity to the album’s soundscape. Moreover, their creative synergy with singer-songwriter CMAT, aka Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, bore fruit in the tracks ‘I Like Your Look’ and ‘Why Do I Give You The Worst Of Me?’.

As for Dyche’s appearance in the video, he shared, “I was delighted to be asked to appear in Blossoms’ new video. It was great to have a ‘craic’ with them whilst filming. Great lads and a great band.” Gary the Gorilla, however, remained tight-lipped.
