CMAT’s New Album “EURO-COUNTRY” and Single “Running/Planning” Challenge Societal Norms

CMAT has announced her highly anticipated third album ‘EURO-COUNTRY’, set for release on 29th August via AWAL Recordings. This album comes packed with deep themes, engaging storytelling, and CMAT’s signature sound. Along with the album announcement, she has dropped the new single ‘Running/Planning’, which delivers a poignant critique of societal pressures surrounding women.

Recorded in the vibrant heart of New York City, EURO-COUNTRY is co-produced by CMAT herself along with talented collaborator Oli Deakin. Following her previous album, ‘Crazymad, For Me’, this new record is ambitious, exploring intricate themes like economics, identity, and grief. CMAT boldly calls this new album “the most important record I’ve made for myself,” showcasing her personal growth and artistic vision.

“‘Running/Planning’ is about the exhausting chase for validation to prove one’s existence,” CMAT explains. The single reflects on the societal expectations that women often feel they must adhere to – from dating to engagements and marriage. The repetitive chorus serves as a powerful metaphor for the pressures to follow a linear, predefined life path. It’s a raw and relatable expression that many can identify with, especially when they find themselves diverging from the norm.

Reflecting on the creation of EURO-COUNTRY, CMAT shares, “It was driving me crazy, but that was the magic of it. I’m always obligated to create music that speaks to me. I want to deliver quality, and deep down, there’s a part of me that keeps me in check.”
