Björk’s Cornucopia Concert Film Set for Global Theatrical Release

Get ready to immerse yourself in an extraordinary audiovisual experience! Björk is taking her concert film ‘Cornucopia’ to the big screen, and you won’t want to miss it.

Björk has announced a limited theatrical release of her concert film ‘Cornucopia’, set to arrive in cinemas globally on 7th May. The film, created in collaboration with Mercury Studios, captures footage from the Cornucopia concert tour, which ran from May 2019 to December 2023. The tour comprised 45 shows across North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia and was based on Björk’s albums ‘Utopia’ and ‘Fossora’.

The theatrical release will screen in approximately 500 cinemas across 25 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, the US, and the UK. The film runs for one hour and 39 minutes and includes three curated music videos from the Icelandic artist.

“This has been a long journey with hundreds of people helping out. I am so beyond enormously grateful to every single one of them,” Björk states. “I feel the modern concert film is a matriarchally friendly construct, welcomed in the current climate. My intention was to bring what we had created for 21st-century VR into a 19th-century theatre – taking it from the headset to the stage.”

Directed by Argentine filmmaker Lucretia Martel, the production expertly blends music and theatre. Björk elaborates, “Throughout this tale, there is a subplot woven in: a second story of an avatar—a modern marionette who alchemically mutates, from puppet to puppet, from the injury of a heart wound to a fully healed state.”
