Orlando Weeks Unveils ‘LOJA’: A Sonic Journey from London to Lisbon

Indie music’s beloved troubadour, Orlando Weeks, is about to drop a melodious bombshell with the release of his new album ‘LOJA’.
Set for digital release on June 6th, with physical formats arriving on August 23rd via Fiction Records, this album is not just another collection of tracks; it’s a narrative woven through the experience of uprooting and finding home anew. Orlando’s voyage from the bustling streets of London to the sun-kissed vistas of Lisbon has embossed its influence on every note and lyric of ‘LOJA’.
- ‘LOJA’ kicks off with the breath-taking single ‘Dig’, featuring the beguiling vocals of Wet Leg’s Rhian Teasdale.
- With a video by Matt Harris-Freeth, this song delves into the tension of private conflict played out in public – a dance of words that treads the line between spitfire dispute and whispered confession.
- Orlando describes ‘Dig’ as an “under your breath half-argument, the kind that only ever happens in public”, a tit for tat exchange where “long worn-out promises are remade and road weary offences retaken”.
Musically, ‘LOJA’ captures the spirit of change. As Orlando puts it, the move “threw up an awful lot of stuff and it gave us perspective and hindsight because suddenly there was distance”. This album is infused with this transformative energy, a love letter to the newfound muse that is Lisbon, where personal upheavals turn into artistic gold.
Recorded in the serene space of Chale Abbey Studios on the Isle of Wight, Weeks worked alongside producer Sergio Maschetzko and collaborator David Granshaw, with his live band lending their talents to the mix. From ‘Longing’ to ‘Beautiful Place’, the tracks thread together stories of awakening, regret, and the kind of love that adjusts to daylight saving time.
Not to be missed: A special residency at The Copeland Gallery, London, from June 6th-9th where Orlando will transform his music into a multi-sensory experience with daytime art exhibitions and nighttime performances.
